How to reduce energy consumption at home?<\/h2>\n

Saving energy is one of the easiest ways to reduce the environmental impact of housing while also helping to keep housing costs under control. Sustainable and responsible living is an important part of everyday life in Jyrkk\u00e4l\u00e4 and every tenant can help reduce energy consumption with simple choices.<\/p>\n

Most household energy consumption comes from heating and hot water. Around 65\u201375% of annual heat consumption is used for heating, while hot water accounts for the remaining 25\u201335%.<\/strong> Even small changes can therefore make a meaningful difference to energy consumption and your carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

As a tenant, you can help reduce the building\u2019s heat consumption and heating costs.<\/p>\n

Keep the room temperature at a suitable level<\/h3>\n

The recommended energy-efficient room temperature is approximately 21\u00b0C<\/strong>. Increasing the temperature by just one degree can raise energy consumption by several percent.<\/p>\n

If your home feels too warm or too cold, first check the ventilation and radiators before using an additional heater.<\/p>\n

Air your home efficiently<\/h3>\n

Fresh indoor air is important for comfortable living. The best way to air your home is to create a quick cross-draught<\/strong> for a few minutes.<\/p>\n

Leaving windows partly open for a long time cools the building structures and increases the need for heating. Keep airing times short to prevent unnecessary heat loss.<\/p>\n

Reduce hot water consumption<\/h3>\n

Hot water takes a significant part of household energy consumption. Taking shorter showers, only running full washing machines and dishwashers and reporting leaking taps for repair all help save water and energy.<\/p>\n
